About

Cassandra Kotlarchik

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist offering virtual therapy in Washington, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Since 2009, I have worked with individuals and families in both outpatient and residential treatment settings. For nine years, I worked at a residential eating disorder program, including four years as the Program Director.

I love helping women improve their confidence, manage stress, navigate relationships and find healthier ways of coping. Working with women with eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues is a special interest of mine. I also specialize in perinatal mental health and enjoy supporting women through fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, pregnancy and postpartum.

Like many therapists, my personal experiences have inspired my interests as a therapist. My own issues with food and body image as a young woman, as well as the food and body issues in my family, inspired me to specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. I know first hand that change and healing are possible, and I am dedicated to helping others find freedom from disordered relationships with food, body and exercise. I am also a mother to two small children and understand the challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood and balancing a career and family.

I value collaboration with my clients and other treatment providers. I will communicate with all of my clients' other providers to ensure the best care for them. This may include doctors, psychiatrists and dietitians.

About

My Approach

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I take a systemic approach in my work with clients. Even when working with individuals, I believe it is important to explore the broader systems impacting the individual, including family, friends, religion, community and culture. I know each client is unique and different therapy approaches are beneficial to different clients. I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) in addition to family systems work. I typically meet with new clients for a free consultation followed by an intake session. This is an opportunity for me to understand your background, what brings you to therapy and what goals you have.
